A women’s strawweight fight between Amanda Ribas and Angela Hill has been targeted for UFC On ESPN 24 on May 8th.
Ribas quickly made a name for herself in the UFC by winning her first four fights in a row, defeating a string of notable contenders like Mackenzie Dern, Randa Markos and Paige VanZant along the way.
However, despite being tipped by Dana White as ‘one to watch’ in 2021, the 27-year-old faltered last time out, suffering a second round TKO stoppage loss against Marina Rodriguez, leaving her with an overall 10-2 record and placed No.10 in the rankings heading into this fight.
As for the 36-year-old Hill, she is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Ashley Yoder just last month.
Prior to that ‘Overkill’ had suffered two losses in a row, though still won plaudits for having taken strawweight mainstays Michelle Waterson and Claudia Gadelha to close split decision verdicts.
As such, Hill currently stands just one place below Ribas in the pecking order at No.11 and now has a chance push firmly into the top 10 rankings.
Ribas vs. Hill joins a UFC On ESPN 24 card that will be headlined by former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw as he returns from a lengthy USADA suspension to fight Cory Sandhagen, while Diego Sanchez’s swansong against Donald Cerrone is also scheduled for the main card.
