Anderson Silva has got his wish, he will fight at UFC 237 in Brazil on May 11th as he’s just been booked to fight Jared Cannonier.
However, despite reports that the event would be taking place in Curitiba, it seems that plans have changed and it’s now more likely to be taking place in Rio de Janeiro instead.
Silva is coming off a decision loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 234 earlier this month, but the former champion put up a better showing than some had thought he would given that he’s now 43-years-old and was coming off a long absence from the Octagon.
Now he’ll go up against the 34-year-old Cannonier, who dropped down to make his middleweight debut last time out and TKO’d David Branch early in the second round.
However, ‘The Killa Gorilla’ had lost three of his previous four fights before that at light-heavyweight, with his last outing in the division being a TKO defeat against Dominick Reyes.
Silva Vs Cannonier joins a UFC 237 card that will also feature a women’s strawweight title fight between current champion Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade plus Antonio Rogerio Nogueira going up against Ryan Spann and Bethe Correia returning to fight Irene Aldana.
