Former UFC legends Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz never locked horns in the Octagon, but in the bizarre times that we live in the two aging veterans are now going to meet in the boxing ring instead.

Silva vs. Ortiz is being lined up to feature on the next Triller fight card on September 11th in Los Angeles for an event that will be headlined by Oscar De La Hoya fighting another ex-UFC star Vitor Belfort.

This will be the 46-year-old Silva’s second boxing match of the year so far as he actually impressed the boxing pundits with his skills in the squared circle during a dominant win over former boxing champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr back in June.

Silva had been expected to fight YouTube superstar Logan Paul next, but that fight was never officially announced and so it looks like ‘The Spider’ is eager to say active in the mean time.

As for the also 46-year-old Ortiz, he bowed out of MMA competition in 2019 off the back of a three-fight winning streak in which he beat Chael Sonnen by first round submission in Bellator, then avenged two prior losses to Chuck Liddell by KO’ing him in an event ran by De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, before finally notching up another submission finish against Alberto El Patron at Combate Americas 51.

Boxing was never Ortiz’s strong suit, so taking on a fight against one of MMA’s greatest ever strikers for his debut in the sport doesn’t seem like a great match-up for him, but we only have a month to wait in order to find out for sure.
