Marcel Fortuna Demolishes Anthony Hamilton In First Round At UFC Fight Night 104

An undersized Marcel Fortuna claimed a big knockout victory over Anthony Hamilton tonight on the main card at UFC Fight Night 104 in Texas.

Round One:

Fortuna with an early jab. In close Hamilton lands a few shots. Another brief flurry and Fortuna is already bleeding from a cut caused by a clash of heads.

In the clinch Fortuna lands a nice knee, but Hamilton is much the bigger of the two and presses him up against the cage. Fortuna with an elbow and then gets his back of the cage.

Right hand to the body and head from Hamilton. The ref stops the fight so the doctor can take a look at Fortuna’s cut near his right eye, but thankfully he’s ok to continue.

Hamilton wades in with punches to the body and head. Another body punch as Fortuna tries to stick on the outside. Right hand gets through for Hamilton, but then he eats a counter from Fortuna that seems to buckle the big man’s legs just for a moment.

Hamilton continues to come forward, but it’s not longe before Fortuna blasts him hard with a huge overhand right that drops his opponent awkwardly to the mat.

Hamilton was rocked big time by that, almost landing face first and he’s unable to recover afterwards, prompting the referee to quickly step in to save him from further punishment. Fortuna reels off to celebrate an unexpected victory, while Hamilton gets to his feet and staggers across the cage, still clearly hurt.

When you take into consideration that Fortuna only weighed 210lbs for this short notice fight – 50lbs less than his opponent – that’s a terrific way to make his impression felt in his UFC debut!
