Bellator 224 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening, Julia Budd successfully defended her featherweight title in swift fashion, hurting Olga Rubin with a kick to the body, then swarming on her with a punishing knee to the midsection and follow-up punches to sink her to the canvas and claim a TKO victory just 2.14mins into the fight.
In the co-main event Rafael Carvalho racked up takedowns on his way to a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3) over Chidi Njokuani in a relatively uneventful fight.
There was a recurring theme of effective body shots during the main card and it was apparent again during Juliana Velasquez’s second round TKO stoppage of Kristina Williams, who hurt her opponent with a one-two and then unleashed more strikes behind it, with a punch to the body being the final straw for Williams who dropped for a TKO stoppage at 4.03mins.
The same was the case in the main card opener, with Ed Ruth landing body kicks in the second round against Kiichi Kunimoto, then connecting with a knee as his opponent came in for a takedown, which put him down, giving him the opportunity to finish up with ground and pound to put an end to the fight by TKO at 3.49mins of the second round.
