Bellator 225 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
The main event was a curious affair because Matt Mitrione’s mouthpiece kept falling out during his fight with Sergei Kharitonov.
Mitrione would reveal afterwards that he didn’t have his usual mouthpiece and had put a hastily purchased one in for the first time on the night of the bout, with disastrous results.
Mitrione started brightly enough, but over the course of the first round his mouthpiece would then fall out no less than three times, leaving him on the verge of being deducted a point if it happened again.
Disaster then struck early in the second round when a glancing hook knocked it out again. This time Mitrione was clearly flustered and decided to go on the attack without it, only to then be floored by an uppercut and subsequently knocked out.
Meanwhile, the heavyweight co-main event finished relatively swiftly when Vitaly Minakov hurt Tim Johnson with a right hand and then unleashed a flurry of blows that rendered him unconscious with just 1.45mins gone.
Other notable results included Khonry Gracie earning his second Bellator win in a row with a first round armbar submission, while in his debut all the way down in the preliminary card opener, one-armed fighter Nick Newell earned a first round arm-triangle choke submission victory.
