Bellator 266 took place last night and we’ve got all the results below.
In the main event, Phil Davis spoiled Yoel Romero’s promotional debut by besting him in what proved to be a controversial split decision ruling (30-27, 28-29, 30-26).
The controversy was not due to who won, but rather that one judge appeared to be the only person watching who thought that Romero had done enough to win!
Despite the hype surrounding Romero’s first fight in the promotion, and the fact that he was competing at 205lbs, he did very little of note, occasionally throwing heavy leather early in the fight without having success hitting the target, while Davis was the busier of the two as he worked behind the jab and leg kicks.
late in the second round Davis landed a takedown, and that would be the catalyst for him to secure multiple more takedowns in the final round to seal the decision victory, which undoubtedly should have been unanimous.
