Bethe Correia Vs Irene Aldana Announced For UFC 227

A women’s bantamweight fight between Bethe Correia and Irene Aldana has been announced for UFC 227 in Los Angeles on August 4th.

By the time the fight comes around, Correia will be stepping into the Octagon for the first time in over a year, with her last outing seeing her dismantled by Holly Holm via a head kick in the third round at UFC Fight Night 111 in Singapore.

That’s not the 34-year-old Brazilian’s only setback in recent times, and in fact though she’s most famous for having fought for the 135lb title against Ronda Rousey, the reality is that after losing to ‘Rowdy’ in just 34 seconds, she’s only won once in her four fights since then.

That solitary victory came against Jessica Eye by split decision back in 2016, while she came out on the wrong end of a split decision against Raquel Pennington and fought to a majority draw with Marion Reneau.

As for Aldana, she struggled in her first two Octagon outing after a 4-1 run in the Invicta FC outfit, facing a tough debut against Leslie Smith, which she lost by unanimous decision and following on from that a split decision loss to Katyln Chookagian.

However, back in January she recorded her first win in the UFC with a unanimous decision victory over Talita Bernardo.

Correia Vs Aldana joins a UFC 227 card that will be headlined by a bantamweight title rematch between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt.
