Bryce Mitchell vs. Jonathan Pearce Set For UFC 288

A featherweight fight between Bryce Mitchell and Jonathan Pearce has been confirmed for UFC 288 on May 6th at a destination that’s still to be confirmed at this stage.

The 28-year-old Mitchell lost for the first time in his 16-fight career last time out when he found himself being submitted by Ilia Topuira in the second round.

At the time Mitchell was very unhappy with how things had panned out and even talked about potentially retiring in the immediate aftermath of the defeat, but clearly that would have been a mistake given that he had won all six of his other UFC fights up to that point.

Along the way, Mitchell beat increasingly challenging level of competition that culminated with victories over the likes of Charles Rosa, Andre Fili and then Edson Barboza, and though his first loss did temporarily stall his momentum he’s still just one spot away from the 145lb division’s Top 10 rankings.

Meanwhile, his next opponent Pearce’s run in the UFC has so far been the opposite of Mitchell’s in that he lost his UFC debut back in 2019, but has since won his next five fights in a row, beating the likes of Makwan Amirkhani and Darren Elkins in the process, though he has to land himself a spot in the rankings.
