Chris Curtis vs. Nassourdine Imavov Set For UFC 289

A middleweight fight between Chris Curtis and Nassourdine Imavov will go down at UFC 289 in Vancouver, Canada on June 10th.

These two were actually first paired together back in early 2020 for the ARES FC promotion, but the entire event collapsed due to Covid and they both went on to sign for the UFC instead.

Imavov was the first to fight in the Octagon back in October of 2020 and has since compiled a 4-2 record, with wins over the likes of Joaquin Buckley, Edmen Shahbazyan and Ian Heinisch, while his last outing saw him suffer a unanimous decision loss to Sean Strickland.

Curtis joined the promotion a year later than Imavov and coincidentally has also gone 4-2, beating Joaquin Buckley, Rodolfo Vieira, Brendan Allen and Phil Hawes, while it’s only been a couple of weeks since his last bout, which saw him lose out on the scorecards to Kevin Gastelum.

All of which leaves Imavov ranked No.12 and Curtis No.15 in the middleweight ranks as they join a UFC 289 card that will be headlined by a women’s bantamweight trilogy title fight between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena, which is currently supported by the likes of Stephen Thompson vs. Michel Pereira, Dan Ige vs. Nate Landwehr and Eryk Anders vs. Marc-Andre Barriault.
