Ciryl Gane vs. Tai Tuivasa Targeted For UFC: Paris In September

The UFC are headed to Paris, France for the first time on September 3rd and to mark the occasion they are bringing a major heavyweight headliner featuring French star Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa.

For Gane it will be his first fight back in the Octagon since losing out on the scorecards to his former teammate Francis Ngannou in their title fight at UFC 270 in January.

However, before that Gane had built an undefeated 10-0 record, with seven of those victories having taken place in the UFC’s Octagon.

Along the way he defeated the likes of Derrick Lewis and Junior dos Santos via TKO, as well as securing other decisive decision wins against other highly ranked heavyweights like Alexander Volkov and Jairzinho Rozenstruik, all of which leaves him still placed as the division’s No.1 contender heading into his next fight.

As for Tuivasa, he’s unexpectedly become another of the heavyweight ranks success stories in recent years, with five wins in a row to his name helping him to banish the memory of a three-fight losing streak in 2018-2019 that had him on the verge of being released from the UFC.

The 29-year-old managed to dig himself out of that rut beginning with a KO win against Stefan Struve in 2020 and has been in destructive form ever since, TKO’ing Harry Hunsucker, before a trio of knockout finishes against Greg Hardy, Augusto Sakai and most recently Derrick Lewis left him placed at No.3 in the rankings.
