CM Punk Vs Mike Jackson Rumored For UFC 225 In Chicago

It seems that former WWE superstar CM Punk may be about to get another chance to prove himself in the Octagon, with the latest rumor being that he’s being lined up to fight Mike Jackson at UFC 225 on June 9th in Chicago.

If your wondering who Jackson is then you won’t be alone as he had never fought in MMA before he was plucked from obscurity to fight Mickey Gall at UFC Fight Night 82 in early 2016, with the winner moving on to fight Punk afterwards.

Gall won the fight easily, taking just 45 seconds to tap out Jackson, who hasn’t fought again since.

Punk then fought Gall at UFC 203 in September of 2016 and found himself being defeated in similarly swift fashion by way of a first round rear-naked choke.

Given that Punk hadn’t even landed a punch in the fight it had been assumed that, like Jackson, this would be his one and only fight in the UFC.

However, Dana White has repeatedly stopped just short of confirming that Punk wouldn’t get another fight, and now it looks as if he’ll have another chance to prove himself – although defeating a fellow 0-1 fighter who hasn’t really earned the right to be fighting in the Octagon wouldn’t mean a whole lot on the grand scheme of things.

Nevertheless, given that Punk is somewhat of a draw thanks to his time in the WWE, that would appear to be enough for the UFC to overlook the fact that neither fighter is actually anything close to UFC caliber.
