Cris Cyborg Has Plans To Take Boxing Fight After UFC Contract Concludes

Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino is currently enjoying life as the UFC’s featherweight champion, but it seems that she also has her heart set on fighting in the boxing ring too.

“Of course, I need time for training. I think I need four, six months training,” Cyborg confirmed when asked by Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole if she was interested in boxing. “Gonna be maybe perfect because I have two fights left MMA and then I can focus on boxing.

“After this (contract) I will do a boxing fight. I have just two fights left.”

Does that mean Cyborg intends to walk away from the UFC, and indeed MMA?

Apparently not, although it seems that much would depend on whether the UFC are willing to cooperate with the 32-year-old.

“I would like to work with them. If the UFC work it and I can do the boxing fight and still have the belt and come back like McGregor did.”

As for who Cyborg would like to fight in the ring, she intends to go to the top of the food chain by targeting Cecilia Braekhus, a 36-year-old known as ‘The First Lady’ who has a perfect 33-0 record and currently holds 4 different title belts simultaneously – one of only a few boxers to have done so in the history of the sport.

“I think it’s a challenge for myself,” Cyborg said of the potential superfight.
