Cris Cyborg Signals Interest In Fighting Felicia Spencer

Former Invicta FC featherweight champion Felicia Spencer made an immediate impression in her UFC debut this past weekend when she defeated Megan Anderson with a first-round rear-naked choke.

With the 145lb division being so underpopulated that naturally means that people are already discussing the possibility of Spencer fighting former divisional queen Cris ‘Cyborg’, and that is something that interests the 26-year-old.

“It would be an honor. Absolutely,” Spencer told reporters backstage at UFC Fight Night 152 when asked about the possibility of fighting ‘Cyborg’ next.

Cyborg hasn’t fought since losing her title to Amanda Nunes last year – her first defeat in 13 years – and so it’s perhaps not surprising that she’s eager to get back into the cage.

“July 27th Edmonton Canada,” Cyborg wrote on Twitter. “❤️ I have had one @ufc fight in 15 months. Challenge accepted.”

July 27th is when UFC 240 takes place, and though there’s a sense that Spencer would rather have more time to prepare, she’s open to that possibility.

“There’s definitely a lot going on for me, but if that’s what the UFC wants, then I would be able to make it happen,” Spencer said.

UFC 240 is currently scheduled to be headlined by featherweight champion Max Holloway in a title defense against Frankie Edgar.
