CSAC Director Left Baffled By Jon Jones Positive Drug Test

California State Athletic Commission Executive Director Andy Foster has admitted that he’s completely baffled by Jon Jones recent drug test failure prior to UFC 214 in Anaheim, which saw him test positive for the banned substance, Turinabol.

“This entire situation doesn’t make any sense to me,” Foster said in an interview with MMAJunkie. “It just doesn’t. We’ve got to figure this out because this is just crazy. We’re going to get to the bottom of it.”

“If you’re doing a steroid panel, then this drug is going to show up every time. The fact that it didn’t show up on (July 6 and 7) when he was tested before, that’s an indication that he was not on that drug at that time.”

officials are currently awaiting the results of Jones ‘B’ sample, and if it also comes back positive then Foster can only see two possible reasons for the test result.

“At that point, one of two things is probably going on here: He’s either extremely careless, or he’s a cheater. I know he’s already been extremely careless once in his career … but none of this makes any sense. That’s why I think it’s very important that we vet this and look at all the available evidence before we jump to conclusions and hang this guy out to dry.”

Jones would be facing up to a potential four-year ban for his latest anti-doping violation if he’s found guilty, which would ruin not only his legacy but his entire career, and with the stakes being so high Foster plans to leave no stone unturned to make sure that the correct verdict is reached.

“We’ve got to figure this out because this is just crazy,” Foster said. “We’re going to get to the bottom of it.”
