Curtis Blaydes Defeats Justin Willis By Dominant Decision At UFC Fight Night 148

Curtis Blaydes completely shut down Justin Willis with his wrestling tonight at UFC Fight Night 148 to earn a unanimous decision win.

Leg kick for Blaydes to start. Body punch lands, now back to the leg kick. Another leg kick. Now into the takedown attempt from Blaydes. Willis defending for now though against the cage.

Knee strike and ten another takedown attempt. He doesn’t get it straight away, but he continues to work and lands it.

Blaydes moving to Willis’ back here. Left hands land for Blaydes. Willis wanting to stand here, but Blaydes lands a knee strike to the upper thigh.

Willis stands, but Blaydes throws him back down with a slam. Willis to his knees and stands again with Blaydes latched to his back. Blaydes brings him to the mat for the third time.

Knees to the thigh from Blaydes as Willis stays down on one knee. Blaydes goes heavy on top as Willis tries for a kimura. He soon gives up on the attempt.

More knees to the thigh from Blaydes. Willis stands. He’s soon brought back down and is back on one knee again. Blaydes lands a series of left hands to the head.

Round Two:

Big right hand from Willis staggers him backwards. He recovers quickly, but Blaydes is quickly on him and takes him down.

Blaydes high up on Willis and moves to mount. Willis rolls to his front. Elbow strike lands. Willis fights to get to a knee again and then Blaydes lands knee to the upper thigh.

Willis goes back to the mat trying for a kimura but nothing doing there. Back to his knees he goes, but he just can’t get out from under Blaydes and the knees high to the thigh land once again.

Takedown for Blaydes. He goes right back to landing those knees to the leg and a few left hands to the head for good measure.

More left hands land as the round comes to a close.

Round Three:

leg kick for Blaydes and then the two men trade punches. Bit risky for Blaydes. Leg kick for Blaydes. Body kick for Willis.

Missed punch from Willis and a nicely timed takedown from Blaydes, but it’s stuffed. Blaydes with a jab and then a takedown attempt again. He settles for clinching up against the cage.

Blaydes working hard for the takedown from the body lock, but not getting it for now. Blaydes eventually disengages.

Blaydes waits for Willis to swing then does well to time the takedown attempt and stick it. Blaydes in side control.

Willis gets to to his knees with Blaydes still clinging to him. Final 15 seconds and Blaydes happy to just continue to war on Willis for the final seconds.

Decision:

No doubt about the winner here, Willis barely landed a strike as Blaydes grinded his way to a unanimous decision victory (30-27, 30-26, 30-25).
