On this week’s edition of Dana White’s Contender Series the UFC brass toned things down a bit by only awarding two fighters a contract in the promotion.
Main event fighter Ihor Potieria ensured he’d be fighting in the UFC next time out when he put Lucasz Sudolski away in the first round after landing a series of powerful hooks on the feet that sank him to the canvas, with a couple of follow-up strikes landing afterwards to seal the TKO stoppage win at the 3.41min mark.
Also earning a contract was Daniel Zellhuber, who had to endure being heavily outstruck by Lucas Almeida in the opening round, but then dug deep and started to find his own groove offensively in the later rounds to emerge with a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3).
Dana White also had words of encouragement for his opponent Almeida, saying that he’d sign him if he picked up another win on the regional circuit.
