Dana White has issued a video statement addressing the UFC’s plans to deal with restrictions to large-scale gatherings that are increasingly being announced in response to the Caronavirus outbreak that have put several of their upcoming events under threat.
In the video White declares that all of the UFC’s forthcoming shows will still go ahead, but there may be changes to where they take place, aside from this coming weekend’s UFC Fight Night 170 event in Brasilia, Brazil, which will air behind closed doors with no live audience in the originally scheduled venue.
“Some of these events will be moved from the original host city to the UFC Apex here in Los Vegas, and unfortunately fans may not be allowed to attend the events,” White said.
Though White didn’t mention specific events, some of the shows that appear to be potential candidates to be moved include UFC On ESPN 8 in Ohio and UFC 249 in New York due to restrictions being enforced in those regions as to how many people can gather together in a public place.
“You know I hate this, but the decision has been made in the best interests of everyone involved in our events, including fans, athletes, staff and media partners,” White continued.
He then went on to conclude by confirming that all the events will still be broadcast live on their usual platforms.
