On last night’s Contender Series, five more fighters fought their way into the UFC as a result of their wins on the night.
One of the new UFC recruits was main event winner Gadzhi Omarhadzhiev, who was able to get Jansey Silva to the mat in the first round and eventually worked for a kneebar submission to produce the tapout at the 4.19min mark.
Co-main event winner Christian Quinonez also earned a contract after earning a clean sweep on the scorecards against Xiao Long in which he proved to be the more accurate striker to get the better of his opponents pressure.
Javid Basharat was awarded a contract after he dominated the action against Oron Kahlon and then wrapped things up with a late third round guillotine choke submission.
The only female fight on the card also produced a new UFC fighter in the form of Karine Silva, who was in a competitive fight with Yan Qihui up until the second round when she went for a standing guillotine choke and kept it locked in despite being slammed to the mat to force the tapout.
Manuel Torres made short work of Kolton Englund to secure his spot on the roster, dropping his opponent with a punch and then following up with elbows to earn a TKO stoppage 2.10mins into the fight.
The only winner not to earn a contract was Olivier Murad, who narrowly defeated Xie Bin by split decision in the opening fight of the night.
