Dana White’s Contender Series 6 Week 10 took place last night In Las Vegas and among the five fighters earning a contract was the highly touted Bo Nickal.
Already carrying the credentials of a stand-out wrestler, Nickal has so far shown the potential to be the best prospect ever to have been produced from the Contender Series so far, earning his contract after following up his previous 62 second submission win back in August, with a 52 second one against Donovan Beard last night.
In the opening minute Nickal landed a big overhand left to the jaw while seamlessly also reaching for his right leg to send him down to the canvas, then achieved full mount, before rolling to his back with a triangle choke locked up to force the submission finish.
Meanwhile, Sam Patterson secured his contract via a rear-naked choke finish late in the second round of his fight with Vinicius Cenci after having been briefly dropped by a powerful left hand in the opening five minutes.
Jack Jenkins left it late to find a finish against Freddy Emiliano Linares and claim his spot on the roster, having opened up a cut earlier in the fight with an elbow and secured top position often before finally unleashing a ground-and-pound barrage that delivered a TKO finish with just 30 seconds of the third round remaining.
Rafael Ramos Estevam dominated Joao Elias and eventually finished him with ground and pound mid-way through the second round.
And Mateus Mendonca opened up the night with a quick finish against Ashiek Ajim. The end sequence saw Mendonca flooring his opponent with a right hand, only for Ajim to attempt to scramble back to his feet for a moment, before suddenly falling backwards unconscious after being clipped by a left hand for a KO finish just 48 seconds into the opening round.
