This coming weekend’s UFC Fight Night 137 headliner in Sao Paulo, Brazil has now suffered another setback after Jimi Manuwa was forced to pull out due to an injury.
As a result, ‘Ya Boy’ Eryk Anders has been drafted in on just six days notice to fight Santos in the main event instead.
Santos himself agreed to take the fight on just a months notice himself after Glover Teixeira bowed out due to a shoulder injury.
The 31-year-old Anders is coming off a third round head kick finish against Tim Williams late last month, and that extended his career record to 11-1, with his only loss coming via split decision against Lyoto Machida in his previous Octagon outing.
As for Santos, the 34-year-old earned a unanimous decision verdict against Kevin Holland at UFC 227 in August, and that goes down as his fifth victory inside the Octagon in his past six fights.
Both fighters are known to be heavy-handed finishers, so it should be an entertaining clash, but it’s certainly not ideal to have such a hastily arranged fight headline the first UFC event in Brazil since back in May.
Anders Vs Santos tops the bill on a card that also features the likes of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Vs Sam Alvey and Alex Oliveira Vs Carlo Pedersoli Jr.
