Gabriel Bonfim was able to get the better of Ange Loosa over three rounds tonight at UFC On ESPN 59 to earn a unanimous decision win.

Round One:

Leg kick from Bonfimm. Loosa throws out a punch and then works for a takedown against the cage. He gets Bonfim to his knees, but Bonfim stands straight back up.

Loosa goes for the takedown again, but Bonfim scrambles back up immediately for the second time in the opening minute.

Now Bonfim manages to reverse the clinch position against the cage. Loosa trying to return the favor but then finds himself eating a bunch of knees to the body from Bonfim.

Loosa backs up for a moment, but then engages and manages to work a takedown. Bonfim gets to his knees, but Loosa is on top trying to keep him down. Bonfim stands and is dragged back down. A few knees to the thigh from Loosa as Bonfim starts to stand again.

Loosa disrupts Bonfim’s balance to bring him down again. Bonfim to his knees and stands again, then spins away to get back to striking range.

Jab for Loosa. Body kick from Bonfim. Bonfim stuffs a takedown and throws a knee.

Left hand for Loosa. Heavy right hand from Bonfim. Loosa tries for a takedown, but then settles for the clinch. Elbow for Loosa and a knee to the body from Bonfim.

Leg kick for Loosa. Right hand from Bonfim. Loosa looks for the clinch. Bonfim tries to jump down on a guillotine choke attempt but slips out instantly and has to scramble back to his feet.

Bonfim lands a few punches as the round draws to a close.

Round Two:

Push kick from Bonfim. Loosa drives into a single-leg and lands it in the center of the Octagon. Bonfim able to scramble back up to striking range.

Nice rip to the body from Bonfim at the end of a punch combo. Jab for Loosa.

Loosa looks for punches and Bonfim threatens with a nice knee in close. Kick for Bonfim. Low kick now. Another knee to the body and then thinks about the thai clinch before backing up instead.

However, in the clinch again soon after he does land a knee. Both men miss and then a left hand for Loosa.

Body kick from Bonfim. He punches to the body too. Right hand for Loosa. Jab for Bonfim but misses on a loaded up right hand.

Uppercut scores for Bonfim. He lands a body punch again and then a knee to the same spot. Another knee lands for him.

Jab for Loosa. He gets a low kick too. Another jab as Bonfim was trying to reach for the thai clinch.

Overhand right for Bonfim glances the target. 10 seconds to go in the round and Bonfim drive into a late takedown and lands it.

Round Three:

Inside leg kick from Loosa. He lands jabs to the head and body. Another leg kick for him.

Left hands from Bonfim. Right hand for him too now. Jabs from Bonfim. Another jab and then a right hand behind it. He misses an uppercut but lands a body kick.

Loosa’s output has slowed. Bonfim with a calf kick. Loosa finds the energy to burst into a takedown attempt, but Bonfim stays upright and gets back to striking range.

Body kick for Bonfim. Now a glancing right hand and a knee to the body.

Punches off the guard from Bonfim followed by an uppercut. Loosa clinches up with 30 second remaining. Bonfim backs away.

Right hand for Bonfim. Another straight right. Loosa attempts a final takedown, but Bonfim stays upright then tries to jump on a guillotine, only for it to slip out as he drops down.

Decision:

A solid all-round performance from Bonfim then against a competitive opponent in Loosa, who started brightly, but couldn’t maintain that pace for the full three rounds. As such it’s Bonfim who wins by unanimous decision (30-27 x2, 29-28).
