Ian Garry had to withdraw from his fight against Vicente Luque at the end-of-year UFC 296 event this past weekend, but now he has a new fight booked against Geoff Neal at UFC 299 in Miami, Florida on March 9th instead.
Undefeated in his 13 fight career, the 26-year-old Garry has had a perfect 6-0 run in the UFC so far, including wins over Song Kenan, Daniel Rodriguez and Neil Magny in 2023 alone.
Marked out as the next big star from Ireland, not everything has gone smoothly for Garry though as he’s come under fire in some quarters for his outspoken, self-confident style and that’s also resulted in him being kicked out of more than one gym during his career, including current welterweight champion Leon Edwards Team Renegade camp just a few months ago.
Still, the 10th ranked Garry is clearly making waves in the sport and finds himself in another big fight here against the No.8 ranked Geoff Neal, who is coming off a submission loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov in his last appearance back in March.
However, prior to that Neal had earned a split-decision victory over Santiago Ponzinibbio and brutally KO’d Vicente Luque and holds an overall 8-3 record in the promotion.
Garry vs. Neal is expected to feature on the main card of the UFC 299 card, which will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera.
