Is Neil Magny Next For Khamzat Chimaev?

After winning his battle against long-Covid earlier in the year and then making a triumphant return to action with a first round submission win over Li Jingliang in October, Khamzat chimaev is apparently hungry to get back into the Octagon as soon as possible.

The problem is that according to Dana White there’s not many fighters who are eager to face the undefeated ‘Borz’, who is now a perfect 10-0 in his career to date.

However, the UFC president has acknowledged that there is one man who would be willing to sign on the dotted line to fight Chimaev – UFC veteran Neil Magny.

“Soon I hope, yeah, we are working on that right now. Listen, you know I was saying the other day, no, nobody’s overly excited to fight Khamzat except for Neil Magny,” White told Daaniel Cormier.

“Somebody said, ‘Hey, Neil Magny’ I said that is true, Neil Magny. Neil Magny is one of those guys who will literally fight anybody. Anybody, anywhere, short notice, whatever, Magny’s a stud. But, yeah, nobody’s overly excited to fight Khamzat.”

Currently ranked No.7 in the welterweight division and coming off a decision win against Geoff Neal back in may, Magny has called out Chimaev several times, but so far hasn’t succeeded in getting the fight.

So, perhaps now is the time, and it seems like Chimaev is more than up for it.

“@danawhite let me eat this guy bro @NeilMagny🤪” Chimaev wrote.

That being said, coming off a unanimous decision victory over Stephen Thompson on Saturday night, the No.5 ranked Belal Muhammad has also now indicated his interest the match-up, and Chimaev is equally enthused about that match-up.

“Let’s gooooo to kill somebody🤪🤪🤪🤪,” Chimaev wrote alongside a mock-up poster of him facing off against Muhammad.

As such, hopefully it won’t be too much longer before the UFC does sign off on a fight for one of the UFC’s most exciting stars in the early months of 2022.
