Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Shamil Gaziev Headlines UFC Fight Night 238 In March

A heavyweight fight between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Shamil Gaziev has been chosen to headline UFC Fight Night 238 on March 2nd in Las Vegas.

This event had originally been scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia, but was somewhat controversially pulled from that location earlier this year amid rumors that the powers at be in the region weren’t happy with the quality of the card, although Dana White has since denied that was the case. The UFC are however now planning a bigger event for Saudi Arabia in June, while UFC fight Night 238 now takes place back home at the Apex facility in Las Vegas.

The fight between Rozenstruik and Gaziev had previously been announced back in January, but at that stage wasn’t set as the main event.

The 12th ranked Rozenstruik has suffered losses in three of his last four fights, starting with a decision loss to Curtis Blaydes and then a TKO defeat against Alexander Volkov.

The 35-year-old did then KO Chris Daukaus in late 2022, but his only fight last year saw him being submitted by rising star Jailton Almeida in the first round.

Now Rozenstruik takes on the undefeated 33-year-old Gaziev, who joined from the Contender Series last year and extended his record to a perfect 14-0 in his promotional debut with a 2nd round TKO victory over Martin Buday.

Rozenstruik vs. Gaziev fronts a UFC Fight Night 238 card that also includes Alex Perez vs. Muhammad Mokaev and Matt Schnell vs. Steve Erceg.
