Jared Cannonier Announces Move Down To Middleweight

UFC fighter Jared Cannonier is on the move again, this time dropping down to middleweight after a stint at light-heavyweight.

“I’ll be making my 185lb debut in my next fight,” Cannonier wrote on Twitter. “So who’s first.”

The 33-year-old Canonier originally began his career as a heavyweight, compiling a 7-0 record before heading to the UFC, where he subsequently picked up a KO win and a KO loss.

After that he opted for a move down to 205lbs, but he’s experienced mixed fortunes there so far, logging wins over Ion Cutelaba and Nick Roehrick, wedged inbetween a loss against Glover Teixeira, before his current two fight losing streak that’s seen him pick up defeats against Jan Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes.

Now he’ll try his luck at middleweight, but it remains to be seen who his opponent will be, and whether this will finally be the division where he can start to find the level of consistency that he’s looking for.
