Former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will fight Tecia Torres at UFC On FOX 30 on July 28th in Calgary, Canada.
Jedrzejczyk lost her title last year by first round TKO against Rose Namajunas, bringing an end to a five-fight reign as champion, while also snapping her unbeaten 14-0 record.
The 30-year-old then found herself in an immediate rematch with the new titleholder, but again it was Namajunas who emerged with her hand raised, this time by unanimous decision, leaving the Polish star facing her first non-title fight since 2014.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Torres is also coming off a loss against former title contender Jessica Andrade, losing out by unanimous decision to her back in February.
Before that Torres had compiled a three-fight winning streak that began with a decision win over Bec Rawlings, followed by a submission victory over Julianna Lima, before notching up a notable win on the scorecard against Michelle Waterson.
Jedrzejczyk remains the division’s No.1 contender, while Torres is currently placed at No.5.
The fight joins a UFC On FOX 30 fight card that’s also expected to feature a featherweight bout between Jose Aldo and Jeremy Stephens, while Randa Markos also fights Nina Ansaroff and Ross Pearson goes up against John Makdessi.
