A bantamweight bout between John Dodson and Petr Yan has been booked for UFC On ESPN+ 3 in the Czech Republic on February 23rd.
Dodson has spent the best part of three years alternating between wins and losses in the UFC’s bantamweight division.
The former flyweight title contender has earned wins over Manny Gamburyan, Eddie Wineland and Pedro Munhoz during that period, but has also suffered defeats against John Lineker, Marlon Moraes and most recently Jimmie Rivera during that spell, albeit with two of them coming by way of split decision.
Now he’ll go up against the rising prospect Yan, who has compiled an impressive 11-1 record that includes a three-fight winning streak since joining the UFC’s ranks last year.
Along the way Yan has claimed victories over Teruto Ishihara, Jin Soo Son and Douglas Silva de Andrade, and now after signing a new four-fight deal with the promotion the 14th ranked contender at 135lbs will take a major step up in competition to face the No.8 ranked Dodson.
Dodson Vs Yan joins a UFC On ESPN+ 3 card that will be headlined by Thiago Santos Vs Jan Blachowicz, with Stefan Struve also fighting Marcos Rogerio de Lima on the main card in Prague.
