In an interview with Kenny Florian on FOX Sports 1 last night, Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier apologized for brawling at the MGM grand yesterday during a UFC 178 media day, but they then traded verbal blows at each other as tensions continued to run high.
Jones stated that the brawl with Cormier had lit a fire under him and like other opponents of his in the past such as Chael Sonnen, Rashad Evans and his first title fight against Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, this was now a fight that he can’t afford to lose.
“Expect some very malicious, violent things to happen the night of September 27th,” Jones said.
“I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure you never forget the night you stepped in the Octagon with me,” he told Cormier, who was also in the FOX Sports studio, but in a different room to ensure things didn’t get physical between them again.
“And you know what’s going to be your sad reality?” Cormier countered. “That everything in your power will not be enough, because I’m still going to beat you.”
