Jorge Masvidal Admits Nick Diaz Fight Interests Him

As one of the most in-demand fighters currently on the UFC roster, ‘BMF’ titleholder Jorge Masvidal has plenty of options as to who he will fight next, and it seems that going up against Nick Diaz is something that strikes a chord with him.

Masvidal has of course just defeated Diaz’s younger brother Nate to win the belt, which has prompted Nick to call him out, and judging from ‘Gamebred’s’ reaction there is a real chance that could happen.

“I know he wants to hurt me. He has to avenge his little brother, so it’s a fight that pumps me up,” Masvidal told Brendan Schaub.

“I’ve always liked Nick’s style, as well. I’ve always liked how he scraps. I never thought he was the most skilled guy, but I think he’s one of the guys with the biggest heart; would just lay it all out there, win or lose. He’d always give it his all, and that’s something that I truly admire, that quality in a fighter.”

It’s also worth noting that Diaz hasn’t fought in five years, and you’d have to go back as far as 2011 to find the last time he emerged victorious, in a bout with BJ Penn, so it’s quite possible that Masvidal sees this as his best option to continue his current three-fight winning streak, which also includes wins over Darren Till and Ben Askren.
