Jorge Masvidal Claims He’ll Make His UFC Comeback At Miami Event In April 2025

Jorge Masvidal’s return to the UFC appears to be step closer as the star has claimed that he expects to fight at a Miami event in April of next year.

“I’ll be back April next year in the UFC,” Masvidal said on the ‘Fight Back’ podcast. “We don’t have the opponent yet. Hopefully by December we’ve got the opponent. April, Miami card.”

Though UFC officials have yet to acknowledge that Masvidal is back in the fold he appears to have insider knowledge given that the promotion’s current event schedule only extends as far as the end of March next year, with no mention of a Miami show at this stage.

The 40-year-old Masvidal announced his retirement from MMA after a loss to Gilbert Burns in Miami back in April of last year and has since had a 10-round boxing match with Nate Diaz, which he lost by majority decision.

However, Masvidal has still remained under contract with the UFC during that time, having signed a lucrative extension to his deal back in 2022.

The peak of ‘Gamebred’s’ star power really came a few years before that though when he was in the midst of a three-fight winning streak that saw him KO Darren Till, knockout Ben Askren in 5 seconds and then TKO Nate Diaz to win the ‘BMF’ title.

From 2020 on Masvidal struggled to maintain that form though, suffering back-to-back title losses against Kamaru Usman, followed by a unanimous decision loss to Colby Covington and then the aforementioned defeat against Burns.

Masvidal has previously expressed interest in settling an old rivalry with former welterweight champion Leon Edwards upon his return, but with the British star having claimed that he’ll be headlining an upcoming UK event in March that’s one opponent that appears to have been ruled out.
