A flyweight fight between Kai Kara-France and Manel Kape is in the process of being finalized for UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia on September 9th.
Kara-France is only a couple of weeks removed from his latest fight, which saw him lose out by split-decision to Amir Albazi in the main event of UFC On ESPN 46.
That marked the second loss in a row for the 30-year-old, who had been TKO’d by Brandon Moreno in their interim flyweight title fight back in July of last year.
However, Kara-France had been on a three-fight winning streak prior to that, beating Rogerio Bontorin and Cody Garbrandt by TKO alongside a decision win against Askar Askarov, and as such he still holds the No.5 spot in the 135lb rankings.
As for Kape, he is coming off a trio of wins in the division, starting with a 1st round knockout of Ode Osbourne, followed by another 1st round TKO of Zhalgas Zhumagulov, and then most recently a decision victory over David Dvorak, leaving him ranked no.9.
Kara-France vs. Kape joins a UFC 293 card that is still in it’s fledgling stages at this point, though the rumor is that middleweight champion Israel Adesanya may headline the show.
