Kevin Lee Now Fighting Daniel Rodriguez At UFC On ESPN 30

After his fight with Sean Lee fell through on two occasions, Kevin Lee will now be facing a different opponent for his welterweight return at UFC On ESPN 30 on August 28th in the shape of Daniel Rodriguez.

D-Rod is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, having earned a unanimous decision victory over Mike Perry, followed by a first round TKO stoppage of late-replacement Preston Parsons last month.

Now it’s Rodriguez’s turn to be the short-notice opponent as he comes in on just over two weeks notice looking to improve on his overall 5-1 run in the UFC’s 170lb division so far.

As for Lee, he’s already had one fight at welterweight against Rafael dos Anjos in 2019, which he lost by unanimous decision, but thought he went back to lightweight afterwards and claimed a KO win against Gregor Gillespie, he’s since missed weight for a fight against Charles Oliveira and was subsequently submitted by him.

That prompted the 28-year-old Lee to try his hand at welterweight again, even while still ranked No.11 in the lightweight division.

Lee vs. Rodriguez features on a UFC On ESPN 30 card that will be headlined by high-level featherweight striking action as Edson Barboza takes on Giga Chikadze.
