Marina Rodriguez Now Fights Carla Esparza On July 25th

Marina Rodriguez was recently pulled from one of the UFC’s Fight Island events on July 15th due to one of cornermen testing positive for coronavirus, but it seems that she will still make it to the island after all.

Rodriguez had already tested negative for the virus, and UFC officials have decided to simply push back her fight with Carla Esparza until July 25th on the island instead.

Rodriguez is coming off a majority draw decision in her last Octagon outing against Cynthia Calvillo back in December of last year.

That was actually the second majority draw ruling of Rodriguez’s four fight UFC campaign to date since joining from the Contender Series Brazil in 2018, but overall she remains undefeated in her 14 fight career and holds victories over the likes of Jessica Aguilar and Tecia Torres inside the Octagon.

As for Esparza, the former strawweight champion is currently riding a three-fight winning streak, securing decision victories over Vima Jandiroba, Alexa Grasso and most recently Michelle Waterson in the space of a little over a year.

Esparza vs. Rodriguez joins a UFC Fight Night 174 event that will be headlined by Robert Whittaker vs. Darren Till, while Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua will also have a trilogy fight with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira on the same night.
