Rising star Maycee Barber’s next fight will come against Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246 in Las Vegas on January 18th.
Barber has so far compiled a perfect 8-0 record and has racked up three wins in the UFC since initially making her mark in the Contender Series last year.
Since then she’s TKO’d all three of her opponents in the octagon, stopping Hannah Cifers, JJ Aldrich and Gillian Robertson by strikes, which has resulted in her taking the No.10 spot on the bantamweight rankings.
Now she’ll go up against the crafty submission specialist Modafferi, who is coming off a decision loss to Jennifer Maia last time out.
In total Modafferi has gone 2-2 at flyweight since making it to the final of TUF 26, including wins over Barb Honchak and Antonina Shevchenko, plus a loss to Sijara Eubanks.
That leaves Modafferi placed at No.9 on the rankings, just one spot above Barber, making this a sensible fight for both fighters at this stage.
Barber vs. Modafferi joins a UFC 246 card that’s rumored to be the likely landing spot for Conor McGregor’s next fight, perhaps against Donald Cerrone, though that’s not been confirmed as yet and so a lot could change before fight night in January.
