Mike Perry Vs Yancy Medeiros Set For UFC 226

Hard-hitting welterweights Mike Perry and Yancy Medeiros are set to square off at UFC 226 on July 7th during this year’s annual International Fight Week celebrations in Las Vegas.

The 26-year-old Perry quickly made a name for himself when he first joined the UFC in August of 2016, racking up a 4-1 record, including stoppage wins over the likes of Hyun Gyu Lim and Jake Ellenberger, but he’s hit a rougher patch recently.

‘Platinum’ comes into this fight off of back-to-back decision losses against Santiago Ponzinibbio and Max Griffin that have dampened his momentum, and going up against another tough fighter in Medeiros means he’s going to have to fight hard to get back in the win column.

After moving to 170lbs in September of 2016, the 30-year-old Medeiros went on a three-fight winning streak that included victories over Sean Spencer, Erick Silva and Alex Oliveira – all inside the distance – but a step up to fight Donald Cerrone last time out then led to a first round TKO defeat.

Perry Vs Medeiros joins a UFC 226 card that’s still in the process of being compiled, though it’s main event superight between lightweight champion Daniel Cormier and heavyweight king Stipe Miocic is already set in place.
