Bryce Mitchell lost his opponent Jonathan Pearce at UFC 288 on May 6th in New Jersey due to an injury, but he now has a more than worthy replacement in Movsar Evloev, who is now stepping up to the plate on three weeks notice.
The 29-year-old Evloev is undefeated in his 16-fight pro-career to date, and that includes the former M-1 Global champion having won six fights in a row since joining the UFC in 2019.
Along the way he’s defeated an increasingly challenging level of competition, leading up to wins on the scorecards against the likes of Nik Lentz, Hakeem Dawodu and most recently Dan Ige.
Like Evloev, the 28-year-old Mitchell had also amassed an impressive 15-fight unbeaten record, including six wins in the UFC, but that run finally came to end last December when another rising force in the division, Ilia Topuria submitted him in the second round.
So Mitchell now has another tough test ahead of him to get back to winning ways on a UFC 288 main card that will be fronted by a bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo, with Jessica Andrade vs. Yan Xiaonan and Kron Gracie vs. Charles Jourdain being the other two fights currently confirmed for the pay-per-view portion of the card.
