Nick Diaz has been arrested in Las Vegas in relation to an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred on Thursday evening.
The 34-year-old Diaz has been charged with felony domestic battery by strangulation in addition to a further misdemeanor domestic battery charge.
According to TMZ, Diaz’s victim, who claims to have been having an on-off sexual relationship with the star for several years, has alleged that he slammed her to the ground and choked her while high on cocaine during the attack.
12 police units were despatched to the scene, where the victim was allegedly observed to have red marks around her throat and eyes and also had a hip injury, leading to her being transported to hospital to be treated for multiple injuries.
Diaz was also still in the residence at the time and was subsequently arrested after a struggle with the police in which he was said to have been, “combative.”
At the time of writing Diaz remains in jail, with bail set at $18,000.
While still under contract with the UFC, Diaz hasn’t fought in the Octagon since a fight with Anderson Silva in January of 2015 that ended in a no-contest ruling after his opponent tested positive for steroids.
Nevertheless, the promotion have released an official statement in relation to Diaz’s arrest.
