After a brief stopover at heavyweight, Ovince Saint Preux will drop back down to light-heavyweight for his next fight against Shamil Gamzatov at UFC Fight Night 177 on August 22nd at a location still to be confirmed.
OSP’s brief rise up to heavyweight saw him suffer a split decision loss to Ben Rothwell in May, but now he’ll return to his usual weight class for a match-up that was actually originally scheduled to take place in April, before the Coronavirus shutdown led to the fight being cancelled.
Saint Preux has only won two his last five fights at light-heavyweight, with victories over Tyson Pedro and Michal Oleksiejczuk having been overshadowed somewhat by defeats against Ilir Latifi, Dominick Reyes and Nikita Krylov.
In Gamzatov he faces a fighter on the rise with a perfect 14-0 record to date, though only one of those wins came inside the UFC’s Octagon, having claimed a split decision win over Klidson Abreu in his debut last November after a stint in the PFL organization.
OSP vs. Gamzatov joins a UFC Fight Night 177 card that will also see Michelle Waterson fighting Angela Hill, but as yet there isn’t a confirmed headliner for the show, which is currently rumored to be taking place at the APEX facility in Las Vegas.
