Petr Yan And Aljamain Sterling Engage In War Of Words Ahead Of Title Clash

Bantamweight champion Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling will lock horns at UFC 259 next month, but the two are already engaging in a few rounds of verbal sparring ahead of the title clash.

It all began when Sterling took to social media to show off how good his conditioning is ahead of the upcoming bout, but Yan was apparently not impressed.

“Our fight not going to round 5,” Yan informed him.

“I just need one takedown,” Sterling retaliated. “Fathers plan. Trust me, I’ve taken down bigger men then you with strong wrestling. I hope you’ve been eating your Wheatie.”

By ‘Fathers plan’, Sterling was referring to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s late father Abdulmanap, which some observers initially thought might be in poor taste, though Sterling later explained that it was meant as a compliment to the coach’s tried-and-tested fight strategy to dominate on the mat.

“If complementing the style of Khabibs, that I like to implement is a “dig”, then you’re a sad silly Willy.”

Either way, Yan laughed off Sterling’s gameplan for the fight.

“One takedown,” Yan responded alongside laughing and facepalm emoji’s.  “You will need plan B aka plan “Bicycle”.

“Too much talking brother,” Sterling replied.  “We will see in 2 weeks. Simple. Fathers plan will have you nervous, frustrated, and tired.”

“The closer the fight, the lesser you talk big mouth,” Yan said.

“I talk before every fight,” Sterling responded in his final post.  “This is nothing new. Pay attention to the division! This is why you won’t be on top much longer. When we’re in the cage, we will see who is doing the talking. It’s late go to bed now.”
