Ramiz Brahimaj Out Of UFC On ESPN 12 After Cornerman Tests Positive For Covid-19

Ramiz Brahimaj won’t have the opportunity to make his UFC debut this weekend against Takashi Sato as he’s now been removed from the line-up after his cornerman tested positive for Covid-19.

This echoes a similar situation at UFC On ESPN 11 last weekend where Matt Frevola had to be taken off the card on short notice after his cornerman Billy Quarantillo also tested positive for the virus.

Brahimaj had been alternating between wins and losses in the LFA promotion over the past few years, but was coming off a quick submission victory in his last outing back in March.

The UFC have managed to secure a short-notice replacement for Brahimaj, with Jason Witt now having stepped up to fight Sato instead.

However, Witt will firstly also have to undergo a medical and Covid-19 test, while the UFC have made special arrangements to allow him to be weighed in separately from the rest of the fighters on the card.

Meanwhile, The card remains headlined by a lightweight fight between Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker, with the co-main event featuring Mike Perry vs. Mickey Gall.
