Badly damaged legs seem to be an unwanted trend in MMA recently, and the latest to join the likes of Conor McGregor and Chris Weidman in that regard is Ryan Benoit, although in his case he didn’t even realize he’d fractured his limb until after his decision loss to Zarrukh Adashev!
“I’d still chase him around if we had more time to scrap! 😡” Benoit wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of his grotesquely swollen leg in hospital after the fight.
“Broke my fibular head (probably early in the fight if a rocket scientist had to guess). The hospital was very concerned about the swelling and possible compartment syndrome so they kept me overnight and they are still monitoring until tmrw.
Thanks everyone for the love and support 🙏👊 #TeamBabyface#TeamBenoit”
The tough-as-nails Benoit is no stranger to injuries over the years, but unfortunately he’s also had his fair share of losses in the UFC in recent times, with Saturday’s defeat being his third in a row.
In total Benoit now holds just a 3-6 record in the UFC, and is 10-8 overall, with his biggest victory to date being a TKO stoppage of Sergio Pettis back in 2015.
