Scottish fighter Stevie Ray will have the home advantage for his next fight against Paul Felder, which has been made official for UFC Fight Night 113 in Glasgow on July 16th.
A former Cage Warriors champion, Ray has made a strong impression in the UFC’s lightweight division over the past couple of years, compiling a 5-1 record in the Octagon.
Along the way the level of opposition he’s facing has gradually ramped up, culiminating in back-to-back decision wins over Ross Pearson and Joe Lauzon, so he’ll be hoping to continue his push towards a spot on the top 15 rankings by racking up another victory in the summer.
At 33-years-old, Felder is six years Ray’s elder and has so far put together a 5-3 in the Octagon, with his most notable wins coming against Josh Burkman, Daron Cruickshank and Danny Castillo, though he’s generally come off second-best against higher ranked contenders like Francisco Trinaldo, Ross Pearson and Edson Barboza.
The two fighters essentially arranged the bout themselves during a good-natured exchange on social media recently and they both appear to be welcoming the opportunity to test themselves against each other.
Ray Vs Felder is a welcome addition to a UFC Fight Night 113 card that is lacking in star power as things stand and doesn’t yet have a confirmed headliner.
