Stipe Miocic successfully defended his heavyweight title again tonight at UFC 211, gaining revenge over Junior dos Santos with a TKO finish mid-way through the second round.

Round One:

The main event heavyweight title fight is underway in Dallas, Texas!

Leg kick for Miocic. Now one for Dos Santos. Another leg kick for JDS as they continue to operate at range. Miocic is looking to close the distance though and backs JDS to the cage and unloads a punch.

Low kick for Junior. Miocic closes the distance again and unleashes a combo. Miocic’s shin is already hurt from JDS’s early kicks and he’s struggling to move well on it.

Nice right hand for Miocic. JDS backing away. Miocic doing a good job of backing JDS up against the cage repeatedly. He lands heavy leather and Dos Santos is in some trouble here.

Again Miocic pressures to the cage and lands a big right hand behind the ear and JDS drops to the canvas. Miocic follows him down and unloads with a barrage of blows as JDS turtles up, and that’s it, Herb Dean’s seen enough and waves the fight off, handing the champion a TKO victory just 2.22mins into the opening round.

Another big finish for Miocic then and he’ll be relieved he was able to put JDS away early as his leg is clearly hurt and could have caused him problems in the later rounds.

Miocic now just needs one more title win to have the most in heavyweight history (believe it or not no-one has ever defended that belt more than twice).
