Taila Santos vs. Erin Blanchfield Re-Booked For UFC On ESPN 50

A previously scheduled fight between Taila Santos and Erin Blanchfield that fell through on short notice a few months ago has now been rescheduled for UFC On ESPN 50 in Singapore on August 26th.

It was an issue with Santos’ cornermen being denied VISA’s that led her to put out of their initial fight back in February, and that led to Blanchfield taking on former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade instead on short-notice.

And despite the disruption it all worked out in the end for Blanchfield, who submitted Andrade in the second round to earn her 5th win in a row since joining the UFC in 2021 from Invicta FC.

Along the way, the still only 24-year-old Blanchfield has also beaten the likes of Miranda Maverick, JJ Aldrich and Molly McCann, leaving her tied for 3rd place in the flyweight rankings with her upcoming opponent.

The 30-year-old Santos fought for the flyweight title last time out back in June of 2022, and came close to an upset that night against Valentina Shevchenko, though she ultimately lost by split decision.

Before that Santos had won four fights in a row, defeating Molly McCann, Gillian Robertson, Roxanne Modafferi and Joanne Wood.

Santos vs. Blanchfield joins a UFC On ESPN 50 card that will be headlined by featherweight action as Max Holloway goes up against The Korean Zombie, while Anthony Smith vs. Ryan Spann was also recently announced for the show.
