Injury-jinxed women’s strawweight contender Tatiana Suarez is out of her fight with Virna Jandiroba at UFC 310 in December, but the exact reason remains unclear at this stage.

At first it was reported that Suarez was out due to an injury, and that came as a surprise to no-one given that the 33-year-old has been plagued by such issues for many years, however she has since disputed that’s the case.

“I did not get injured,” Suarez wrote on social media. “I’m curious where you heard this. Why would you put this out there?”

Suarez has since deleted that post though, adding to the confusion over the situation regarding the fight, which had been expected to establish a clear No.1 contender at 125lbs.

Whatever the reason for the potential call-off, the reality is that setbacks are unfortunately nothing new for Suarez.

Early in her career Suarez suffered a massive setback when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, but she successfully beat that, only to then suffer injury woes in the years that followed, most notable spending nearly four years on the sidelines between mid-2019 and early-2023.

Needless to say this has been incredibly frustrating for the former TUF 23 season winner, who has long been tipped as a potential future champion and has proven that again in recent times by returning to action after her long lay-off with back-to-back submission wins that leave her with a perfect 10-0 record.

Here’s hoping the reason for this reported call-off isn’t anything too serious and that she’ll be back in action sooner rather than later.
