A featherweight fight between Yair Rodriguez and Steve Garcia is in the works for UFC 335 on December 12th in Las Vegas.
That’s the word according to Garcia who wrote on Instagram, “We locking in for another one before the end of the year.
“El Pantera vs Mean Machine⚔️ this is must see tv.”
The 34-year-old Rodriguez had originally been scheduled to fight Jean Silva in the main event of Noche UFC 4 back in September, but had to withdraw due to an injury.
That extended Rodriguez’s already long lay-off since picking up a unanimous decision win over Patricio Pitbull back in April of last year.
As for the 34-year-old Garcia, he is coming off a KO loss to Diego Lopes back in June that ended his impressive seven-fight winning streak.
That run had seen Garcia defeat the likes of Calvin Katter, David Onoma, Kyle Nelson and Seung-Woo Choi.
However, Garcia is currently only ranked No.14 in the Meta 145lb rankings, while due to his recent inactivity, Rodriguez doesn’t feature at all.
Rodriguez vs. Garcia joins an end-of-year UFC 335 event that will be headlined by a lightweight BMF title fight between Charles Oliveira and Diego Lopes, while Alex Pereira fights Sergei Pavlovich in the heavyweight co-main event.
