Kelvin Gastelum Hoping For One Final UFC Contract Before Retiring

Veteran UFC fighter Kelvin Gastelum has revealed that he’s on the final fight of his current UFC deal, but is hoping for one final contract before retiring from the sport.

“I have one fight left on my contract, man,” Gastelum said in an interview recently. “We want to renew — this next fight is very important. I gotta win this fight. They want to renew my contract.”

The 35-year-old gastelum has been with the UFC for over 13 years, but his recent form has been poor, managing only four wins in his last 10 Octagon appearances.

However, Gastelum still feels he has more to offer in the UFC, while also acknowledging that he does see retirement on the horizon.

“I think after I renew and I complete that contract, I’m going to ride off into my own sunset,” Gastelum said. “I got a few good ones left in the chamber, but I know the end is coming soon.

“Until that happens, I’ll tell you what: I still believe I’m one of the best fighters in the world, and I know I can compete with the best of them. I don’t just say it to say it. I say it because I truly mean it. A lot of that competition is still in me; I just haven’t been able to display it. The last few years have not gone the way I wanted them to.”

Gastelum doesn’t currently have a match-up for the final fight of his current contract, having pulled out of a bout against Yousri Belgaroui at Noche UFC 4 back in September.
