Netflix are cooking up a ‘tell-all’ documentary about none-other than UFC CEO Dana White that’s set to be released in 2027.
The word is that the documentary was initially set to be part of a broadcasting deal between the UFC and Netflix, before the promotion ultimately opted to go with Paramount+ instead.
However, Netflix are still going ahead with the documentary, which is expected to be available to stream in the first quarter of next year.
The documentary will be directed by Gotham Chopra, who has previously put together award-winning features on sporting stars like Tom Brady, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.
The initial focus for his latest film had actually been Las Vegas, but as time went on White came to the forefront as one of the city’s most high-profile figures, and shifted the direction of the entire project.
White’s backstory is certainly ripe for a documentary, from his early days being chased out of Boston by notorious gangsters while running boxercise classes, through to convincing his childhood friends Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta to buy the failing UFC business for $2 million and then fronting the company during it’s rise to becoming a major global sporting entity worth over $4 billion.
whether the documentary is willing to scratch below the surface of that well-trodden story remains to be seen though.
