The UFC 223 early weigh-ins have now taken place and you can see what all the fighters tipped the scales at below.
The big talk of the morning was that Mackenzie Dern missed weight by no less than seven pounds, coming in at 123lbs for her strawweight fight with Amanda Bobby Cooper, who came in at 116lbs.
Dern has had a history of struggling to make weight during her brief MMA career to date, having failed to do so twice in the Legacy FC promotion, which at one stage prompted her to move up to flyweight, before dropping back down to strawweight when she joined the UFC.
Nevertheless, tomorrow night’s fight will still go ahead, but Dern has been fined 30% of her purse, which will go to her opponent, who had a few choice words to say about her opponent on social media.
“Not shocked @MackenzieDern missed weight but 7.4lbs over is a disgrace to all professionals,” Cooper wrote on Twitter. “She’s not getting out of this fight that easy. Fight is still on. ABCNation get ready. #ufc224 strawweight vs flyweight tomorrow night in Brazil.”
